17-11-2010 -- Pastore has been one of Serie A's best players this season, scoring seven goals from his advanced position in midfield, and the Argentina international is expected to start in a friendly against Brazil on Wednesday.
Manchester City and, in particular, Barcelona have been strongly linked with the 21-year-old but Zanetti, who will play alongside his much younger team-mate for Argentina, hopes to see Pastore join Inter.
"Everyone says that after his experience with Palermo Javier will join Barcelona, but I don't think this is certain as there are many great teams who want him," Zanetti said to Tuttomercatoweb.com.
"I don't know if Inter have a plan for him, but I can say that we have a phenomenon in Pastore."
However, Inter and any other suitors are likely to face strong competition for Pastore's signature and Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri has also expressed an interest in the player.
"Can Pastore play for Juventus? Of course, as a second striker. He is phenomenal in making himself space, something instinctive which cannot be taught," he told Tuttosport.
"He reminds me of Cristiano Doni and I could use Pastore like I used Doni at Atalanta. Maybe in a 4-4-1-1 or better in a 4-2-4 with two real wingers."
