Jesús Mendez summoned by Maradona

Maradona makes list and takes it back 40 minutes later

Thursday February 4, 2010. – Every time that Diego Armando Maradona calls new players to the national squad, it’s news, whether it be about the players included or those excluded form that list. This time around, the coach is making the headlines because he forgot that  four of the players he’d chosen to play the friendly against Jamaica on February 10 are playing a Copa Libertadores match the following day.

These players are Clemente Rodríguez, Enzo Pérez, José Sosa and striker Mauro Boselli, all from estudiantes de La Plata. Fourty minutes alter posting his first list on the official AFA website, Maradona was warned of his blunder and amended the list. He then replaced the players from La Plata by Patricio Toranzo (Huracán), Juan Pablo Pereyra (Atlético Tucumán), Ignacio Canuto (Argentinos Juniors) and Jesús Méndez (Boca Juniors).
